i feel i have jumped into this analysis a bit late. i have run with PW for over 3 years, through many wedding and event shoots. ALL of the cons for them have happened to us. many broken hot shoes (in fact none of my PWs tighten anymore), wrestled with canon over broken 580EX II caused by PW, many many many misfires due to radio frequency, frustrated with the goofy sock shield to make adjustments on flashes (in front of clients). on-site shoots i would NOT recommend PW.
having a master or st-e2 is hardly a con for the RP. seeing that you only need to velcro a transmit onto a master was actually a pro for me. if you want to control an on camera and an off camera flash with PW you end up with this very top heavy tower on top of your camera, trusting that PW's cheap plastic shoe doesnt break.
however, PW may be great for in-studio due to lots of control and less moving around.
i wish i could switch over to RP. i would sell all my PW in a heart beat.

The sad part of the story is that adjustments can't be transferred. You can export from Aperture with sidecar XMP files and at least your metadata will transfer.

Bob,
Could you explain how you moved your album from aperture to lightroom. When you did this were you able to keep your alterations?
Thanks

Here's an update on the issue with the 580 EX II. They (pocket wizard) did an analysis on the the problem with the 580 EX II and found that the flash tubes in some of the units are misaligned. They see a failure rate of about 1 in 200 580 EX II using their transmitters. High speed sync puts a lot of stress on the flash, and causes the flashes with misaligned flash tubes to fail quickly. You can see arcing from the flash tube to the reflector in the units where the flash tube is misaligned. They realigned the flash tube and replaced the failed component for a very reasonable price. Because of the professional manner in which they dealt with me, I decided to give them another chance, and have not had a problem the the transmitters or flashes since. I have stayed away from using the high speed sync with their transmitters just as a precaution though.
